Default Problem getting an insurance binder for a car loan

Today i've been running around trying to get an insurance binder so i could get a loan on the car. I went to my insurance company (Triple A) They said they required me to get the title and put insurance on it. Problem is, i aint got the title because i havn't even purchased the car yet.And to do so, i need the check and now i'm kinda stuck. So how am i gonna get an insurance binder without getting the title? Insurance binder is only temporary insurance, i don't know why they need me to register under my policey. And i dont want to insure under my current company because the rate is too high. I wanted to insure under progressive because it is much cheaper.

Note I'm from boston and the car is located in NY so i want to make this a single trip.

Somebody please tell me what is the simplest way to get an insurace binder.

And can somebody please tell me a little bit about progressive and their 6 month policey and how it works. And list what kind of options you put thx.

I've never had a problem getting insurance on a car before I purchased it. This is standard practice for any bank. If they are issuing a loan they want to verify that you have full coverage on the vehicle at all times.

If you are having so much trouble getting insurance from another carrier, perhaps you should just go with the one you have;(make a partial payment) then down the road, cancel it and go with someone else.
