Ok, so I've admired the S from afar for a while now. I auto-x a lot and I know it's a good, fun car to drive and it's got potential. So last week I just stop in and test drive an 07. Oh. My. God. What a fun car. I'd call it a poor man's Corvette, but he wouldn't necessarily be MUCH of a poor man, given that MSRP for a new 'vette isn't astronomically more than a new S. So anyways, I'm looking at an 02, sebring silver, 14k miles on the clock tomorrow. I am very much in danger of owning this car tomorrow. Is there any specific guidance someone could give me regarding the S? Things to look for, clues to how it's been treated/driven, definite flags, and the like... I flogged the 07 real well, had 20 miles on the clock when I drove it off the lot. I have never driven a car before with so few miles as that 07, and never bought a car with so few miles as this 02. The dealer is asking for 19,500 for this 02S, sebring silver, 14k miles. Is that about ballpark, a little high, a little low? Should I ask him to come down because the value will likely drop again soon, with the release of the 08? Am I crazy for not already owning this car? Thanks in advance for your help.

try to lower it a little. but for 19,500 on 14k miles thats pretty good deal imo.
i cant find any deals where i live with that deal... most S i find with low mileage is around $24k+ and if its under $19k the miles are around 60-80k.
and check car fax and see there anything wrong with it. and look everywhere on the car.

This link should be very helpful to you:

Take a good look at the tires, they aren't cheap to replace. Also, be sure to check engine oil level often, AP1s sometime use oil, nothing wrong with the car, just some eat oil more than others. The car has been pretty durable, so other than obvious signs of abuse, you should be OK. Price seems a little high, something in the $18s feels better. I paid $17k for my 02 this past may w/34k on the clock if that helps. Good luck.
