Default Purchase advice on 01 s2k

Few details, I am 18 turning 19 in 2 weeks and just sold my 2000 si for this car. I will be paying cash. It is an 2001 spa yellow s2k with 58k miles. The seller was asking 16k and he said the lowest he'll go is 15,800 because the rear tires are almost corded. The car has been autocrossed 4 times, and vtec daily i am assuming. I have a couple questions:

1) The 60k maintance is almost up, and I am wondering what that consists of, and how much?

2)The warranty expires next year, is it transferable?

3)The rear tires are worn on the OUTSIDE, which makes me think that it has positive camber in the rear? Which is not what I am used to, I am wondering if its normal?

4)Owner said the car has the clutch buzz, and it was repaired under warrenty and replaced with new 02 clutch and synchros.

5)Also said that the rear diff blew, and was replaced w/ the newer 02 diff I am assuming.

6)Knowing that the owner didn't drive this car lightly, should I be worried about reliability in the long run?

7)It has a new class rear top but no defroster, which is good because I wouldn't consider buying it w/o the glass rear.

8)Any opinions, advice, links to information threads are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I forgot the mention that the top needs a little manual folding for it to fold down properly.

there are straps you can buy from modifry so that you don't have to do this every time

1) 60k maintenance includes changing fluids, changing cabin air filter, checking brakes, fuel lines, suspension components, boots, etc, etc. So, basically nothing but a checkup + fluid change.

2) Don't know.

3) not normal. Rear tires should wear slightly more on the inside due to negative camber on the S2K. It should be visible, but not extreme.

4) Ok reasonable. Don't know why they would change the synchros though unless there was a problem.

5) the AP2s (04 and newer) came with an upgraded differential housing. I believe 00-03 were all the same. Could have been due to abuse.

tekstar, can you give me a link to the straps?

Maybe I should take it in for an alignment in the rear? Both rear tires so wear patterns similar to a positive camber.

This makes me shaky about buying this car

oh and make sure the tsb's are all taken care of if necessary. there aren't many for our year, but you still may want to take a look at it.

I pretty much agree. I wouldn't buy an S2K that needed the synchros changed and blew a differential. screams abuse to me. That price isn't a great deal either. You can certainly find another one at that price with similar miles.. or less miles.. or less money!
