I'd be worried about the thing being over rev'd. The hard use and lack of oil jet updates makes this one a no brainer, stay away.

 

Go with at least an 02 It sounds like this is one to stay away from. I mean diff failures happen sometimes at random, but usually under abusive situations so...I would stay away, and why bother having the glass window without a defroster? get at least an 02, if you wanna stay AP1 then the 03 is definitely a good year. The suspension setup on the 04+ is much more predictable though.
