Default Purchase advice

Greetings!

This is a fantastic site...I hope to be around for a while!

I'm thinking about buying a 2001 with 74k miles. Please advise any weaknesses to be aware of for that particular year.

I took it for a drive yesterday. It is very fun and seems to be in great condition mechanically except for one thing. Say you're accelerating in 3rd gear, then let off the gas suddenly. As the car decelerates, the exhaust becomes much louder behind the cabin area...and there is almost a "rattling" sound. Any thoughts?

Additionally, and not surprisingly, the front bumper shows some wear and the back bumper has two minor scratches. Otherwise the body has no dings; the convertible top looks to be in very good shape. The plastic rear window is showing some age. Silverstone with red interior...what would you pay?

This will be my all year daily driver (in NE Kansas). Any advice regarding all-weather driving and snow tire recommendation is very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Scott

As far as the rattling sound I couldn't tell you, but my friend's MY01 with 80,000 miles makes a strange noise too when you get off the gas. I don't know if her ever got it looked at. Remember that it does have quite a bit of mileage on it so you can't expect it to be perfect.
