Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum, but hope to be a long-time member as I've completely fallen in love with the idea of owning an S2000. I went for my first test drive last weekend (2009 GT with black and red interior - beautiful) and couldn't have had a better time if I'd tried! I've been browsing this forum for the past couple of weeks to try to get a good understanding of what people like and dislike about the car, and now I could do with a bit of practical purchasing advice if possible.

As someone who doesn't know a huge amount about engines (I'm learning, slowly!) what potential problems should I be looking out for? With my budget I'll be after something with around 60k miles, so should I expect to see in a service history covering that sort of distance? Any major work just around the corner? I'm looking at models from 2004 or newer, which I believe will give me improved traction amongst other things, and seems to generally be what people recommend here.

I'm leaning more towards the GT version, as I'm in England and like the peace of mind of having a solid roof for the very wet winter months! Are there any disadvantages to the GT, other than having to store the roof somewhere if I want to drive with the lid down?
