Default Questions About My New 2006

Hello everyone. I just picked up my new 2006 S2000. First day of driving has left a big on my face! However, I have a few questions:

1. Occasionally, when going into 1st gear at a dead stop, I feel this clunking from the bottom of the car. Is this normal?

2. There appears to be a slight hesitation around 1500-2000 RPM. This is sometime noticeable when accelerating from a dead stop. Is this a DWB issue or normal?

1. I don't know if that's normal, but my 06 does the same thing going into 1st.

2. Yeah, there is a slight hesitation sometimes for me. But I think it's me and not the car.

Clunk into first is normal. Search some other threads on this. Just wait a second after you push in the clutch to engage first.

Hesitation -- mine does the same thing, sometimes starting from rest, and often after decelerating in gear. It annoys me in a car that is so otherwise well done. People tell me all S's do this. I posted this same problem in January when my car was new and got royaly flamed. However, since we enjoy a warranty I am going to see what the dealer says. Unfortunately, I can predict their respose.

Here's about the clunk:

As for the hesitation, it "might" be due to the DBW throttle, but I'm tending to think that because this car is new to you, you are still driving it like other cars you've owned. You are not giving it enough gas when taking off and what you are experiencing may simply be a slight lug at that point. Keep in mind that you have in excess of 8000 rpm rev range and very little torque below 2000 rpm. You have 3000 lbs. of car to try to get moving. You just need a bit higher rpms when moving off. If you have just slowed down to that speed and are back in 1st at those rpm, same thing. You are trying to move 3000 lbs of car at a very low engine speed. If you try to move off too quickly, the engine will labour more. Try using the clutch and giving it more rpm before trying to get going faster.

i get the same thing on my 06. I was gonna take the car in to get fixed/serviced. You would think honda would fix that over 7 years.

I don't have any issues with mine. The clunk is like a rifle bolt imo, nothing wrong with that, and 1500-2000 rpm is launch range, so you probably need to give youre car more gas off the line. Keep in mind you may have some heat soak in the summer that will affect the car's off the line response too.

Hesitation? I sometimes feel that too on my 05 (without DBW). Not sure if this is psychological: I feel that the hesitation is greater when I've been stuck in traffic for a long period of time in a hot day. I'm not sure if that has to do with the intake sucking in the hot air trapped under the hood.
