I thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself since I've been out of an S2000 for 10+ years. I had a Spa '02 and a s/c Silverstone/Red '01 back then. I've been cheating on you guys with miatas over the last decade or so, I'm a bit of a speed addict and making an s2000 fast just wasn't in the budget. Over time life has changed, I'm slowing down in my old age, and I just moved from the land of straight roads (South FL) to the land of twisties (East TN). A stockish s2000 is starting to make a lot of sense again and I'm getting excited to get back into one. I figured I'd check in here and start browsing again, hope to see a few familiar names still around.
Sounds a lot like me. I used to be into muscle cars and quarter mile racing but as I have gotten older my tastes have changed. I have only had an S2000 for a little over a year but it has been quite an intoxicating experience being in a car that handles like these do. It isn't in my budget to get a new vehicle that does everything well with a kid starting college in 4 years. I'm putting away what a car payment would be for his schooling. I bought the S2000 at the right time because I wanted a car that could provide me with a nice experience until he is out of college and I can then afford whatever I want ... well that's not entirely true ... there will be no first gen NSX in my garage.
Good luck with your adventure and hopefully you have some good times. I don't really miss having a high horsepower car that much but I have to admit that I don't feel the same at a stoplight when a Mustang GT, Camaro or Dodge Whatever pulls up next to me. Not that I am a street racer, but the Turbo Regal I had was quite intimidating.

I made the drive from Tennessee to Indiana last night after work last night to pick up my new-to-me NFR 2001 S2000 with 134k miles. It could use some loving in a few spots (not looking forward to doing another top *sigh*), but overall seems to be in very good condition. It's got BC Coilovers and Advan RG3 wheels, but is stock otherwise. Eventually I'm planning to do intake and exhaust, but I'm going to try to leave it alone for a little while. Anyway, it's good to be back, really loving the car so far.
