My input: Just bought a MY04, 16,000 miles, accident free, no paintwork (in other words, mint!) for $19,500. Broker bringing it up to Canada for me. Car was a 1 owner lease, it was not bought out at the end of the 3 year term, was sold at auction.

I'm looking at a MY07 with 3000 miles on it, silver with red/black interior, XM sat option installed, clean carfax, bought by original owner 3 months ago - defaulting on loans ... is 25k reasonable? not a whole lot of people buying these cars it seems ...

New airman or sailors should not be buying new vehicles, especially at your age.

If you are set on getting an s2000 be aware that even with a decent my05, you are looking at 350-400 dollar a month payment and insurance rates over 200 dollars a month. That is already almost half of the income for a new military member. A new car could end up pushing 1k a month with poor credit.

I have seen way to many young men and women in the military make mistakes with newer, fast cars while they are young. Too many tickets and too many wrecks.

Thats the truth. PMR you have to realize that you will be getting underway all the time and your car will just sit there and rot. Fix your credit, actually go to the fleet and figure out what its all about and then if you still want a car get a used one.

Digging up this thread for a price question...

Anyone knows how much CRs are going for now? A local dealer has a black one marked up (yeah, whatever) to $40k. I think they are out of their minds.

Reason I am asking is because my lease is up in 3 months. I am going to turn in the NFR and lease a car (haven't decided yet). Now comes the news that S2K is finally gone, I am considering the CR as my next vehicle.

Any insights are appreciated.

A number of people here have seen leftover 2008 CR's for under $30k.
