S2000 Market Prices
Freak - Yeah - 21800 was a great price on that car IMO. The commoness of the color , and my preference for yellow was one of the reasons I passed on it.
Chaz - Thanks - I'm eager to read it - I am sure I will get through it tomorrow.
I got the car through the breakin period earlier today - and WOW it is a blast. My wife and I took it on a drive from Amarillo to Silverton - the senic way - which took us in, out of, and through Palo Duro Canyon. I think we are going to make that run again tomorrow now that the car is through the breakin period.
Thanks to everyone on this forum. I have been lurking for a few months since I started to serious contemplate the purchase, and have learned a TON of useful and helpful information.

Alright so yea another one, just would like to get a feeler for what people think.
I found a MY02 S2K about an 8 hour drive from where I live (would probably fly). It's a Spa Yellow, with 40k miles. They're firm at 19k. It's a dealership and they are telling me it's as new, no blemishes scratches, etc (however they admitted they do do MINOR touchups to buff out scratches, etc which might have been done in this case, but I don't care, as long as it looks good and won't be ruined in a few years). I'd probably spend roughly 250 in traveling costs, and probably 20-21k out the door, probably a total of 21,000 including EVERY minor detail, maybe a smidgeon more.
Anyways what's everyone think, hold out and wait? I'm not in massive rush, but I don't want to turn down a good deal.
Thanks for any input guys! and any other ones I find I'll probably be posting in this thread as well for some input

well....let me just tell you a little story...a friend of mine had an 02 and traded it in for a new TL they gave him 17k for the car it had 40k miles on it, this was eight months ago....i think you can find one for 18k if you look hard.
Hmm... That's about the situation with my car. Not low miles, but great condition. 19K sounds close, but I think you'd do $500-750 better on a private sale. I think I'd expect to get closer to $18 if I were to sell mine (just giving you my thoughts).
Hey, you didn't say if this was a Honda dealer and whether they're offering it to you as a "certified" car (generally meaning that they've done a little more than wash it). If so, that might be worth the extra bucks in (some) peace of mind.

I'm establishing this thread to track folks' pricing questions / information. I will merge various threads in here to keep the discussion focused as time progresses.
FYI, the "information" here is not vetted by anyone. I'm just merging in what folks are posting.
Post here if you have a pricing question / sanity check. Otherwise, I may merge your thread here anyway.

edit: Thread merging doesn't seem to be working at the moment. I'll keep this thread closed until later when I can do this.

not a honda dealer, just an all around car lot dealer, they sound pretty reputable and all. pretty much they handpick all sorts of cars and sell them, no real certain names. And nah no certified car, I'd be willing to pay another grand or whatever for that piece of mind for the next 60k miles, but no luck with that. But I am getting to deal with a 400 dollar 'processing fee' yay!
They are offering a bumper to bumper 3300 mile warranty which is pretty nice. But I'd be going through a hunk of that just on the drive back heh.

Alright here's another one, a little better imo,I'm much more leaning towards it.
MY02. Spa yellow again.. He had it listed with 6,000 miles at 23,600. It now has 9000 miles. I'm thinking I can get him down to 21k. He says it's pretty much completely and utterly perfect (should be for those miles). One little ding on the front spoiler he said, a millimeter size. Closer than the other one, probably a 2-3 hour drive for me. He says he's doing the average of all 3 pricing places online to get his price. Which honestly i don't like when that's done cause NADA is retail :-/ and NADA lags behind real life value of the car imo.
Go for it? Wait for better? whatdya think? Thanks people
