S2000 owner in the making.
Hi everybody I'm Ethan. Every since I was really young when the S2000 came out (probably around 11) I loved it. I used to get S2000 model cars and I even read these forums a lot...Back when I had dial up internet! My interest in cars had faded a bit with high school and all the crap I got into then. But I'm crazy for this car again
I love it. I love the simplicity of 4 cylinder engines, I love the amazing Honda engineering, I love the incredible handling that you guys RAVE about.
Anyways I just finished my first semester of automotive schooling, I enrolled in the BMW program at a college near my home. I took Auto Electricity and Engines class. I rebuilt my first engine in there: the BMW S62 (that beastly V8 from the 2000 era M5) MAN was that fun!
I've been working at a Valvoline lube shop for about a year now...I'm talking to management about getting a promotion right now and I'm actually starting training for it now. So, unfortunately I am putting school on a (maybe) temporary hold, so I can take this career opportunity. Although the skills I learned just from this semester alone are invaluable, I'm not sure BMW is for me. At least, modern BMW. They are starting to stray away from their roots of pure driving machines towards vehicles that might as well be called computers on wheels. Not that I don't like technology, but some of these cars are made up of 30 to 40 computer modules and 2/3 of the repair work done to modern BMW cars is software updates, module reprogramming, etc. I'm just not into that.
Oh well, enough of my ranting, haha. What I was getting at, is with this promotion, I might be able to get rid of my clunker (95 Accord) for a HUGE upgrade, to and S2000. Haven't decided if I want AP1 or AP2 yet, but I have some time to save up still. Am I counting my chickens before they hatch? Probably. But hey I'm one step closer to my long time dream coming true!
