Req: Recommendations for 4-seater convertible
I am actually considering trading my S2000 for a 4-seater convertible. I truely love my roadster, but with a family of 4, there are just too many times where the S2000 is totally impractical. I would love to be able to take the whole family for a top down drive. Keeping the S2000 and getting another convertible is not an option. We're already a 3-vehicle, 2-driver family since we kept my pickup when I got the S2000.
After having and loving the performance and handling of the S2000, I'm leaning towards something that will drive and handle nicely. As a first place to start looking, I thought of BMW and found the 325Ci, 330Ci, and M3 models. I haven't really done much research on anything yet -- just some poking around on BMW's website. Does anybody have any recommendations or comments on these or any other 4-seater convertibles?
Also, I recently saw a car magazine in my barber shop where the issue appeared to contain a convertible buyer's guide. I can not remember which magazine it was much less which issue. Does this ring a bell with anybody? I keep meaning to find the time to stop by the barber shop to look up the magazine again.

Check out www.edmunds.com for lots of auto info. Also, the mags have web sites. ie. www.autoweek.com . As a two time BMW owner, I can tell you that you will not be disappointed in the entire BMW "experience", at least not if your dealer is 1/2 as good as mine is.

I can echo the BMW idea for 4 seats, with the basic model (325ic?) being the most affordable. Probably close to $50k, Carmen? Is 4 year routine maintenance still part of the deal?
I loved my 325is (1993-97) but did not love the labor & materials costs expenses. Luckily, mine was a 42 month lease so I was stuck with only minor out-of-pocket. Even though I the engineering and loads of torque at most any speed, I will probably not buy another upscale German car b/c I'm a frugal person who no longer has his own business to cover the somewhat unreasonable expense...
I would proably NOT look at the Saab 9-3 convertible, but I might think about giving up the ragtop by considering the RX-8

hey, best reason to have a 2 seater is that its impractical!!
no more "hey honey, would you go pick-up the girls from school today?"!!
and no more, "lets all take your car to the tar pits"!!
now its just, when i have time i have the choice of taking one of them somewhere...
there are several more practical topless cars available. you need to first start with a price in mind-
dont forget, the 911 body porsches have back seats!

If Tom Elliot and his cronies would get their collective heads out of their behinds you could have an Accord convertible. ......But Nooooo
So that being said I would pick a Toyota Solara with a V6 6sp with maybe a TRD supercharger to boot.

Coincidence. I've been thinking along the same lines. Especially when my back was bothing me. So leasing a BMW 325 convertible is a good idea if maintanence is included in the lease? High residual = Low monthly payments? If so, I may check this out. Parting with my S2000 may make we cry. I must write quietly so that she doesn't hear us.
