Default S2K newbie

Hello everyone,

I had a chance on Monday and Tuesday night to drive my friend's 2001 S2000. On and put it through its paces. Afterwards the only thing I could say was I gotta have one. Now I know I would like to have the glass rear window (what year did that start?). The only other thing I am unsure about is the 2.0L vs the 2.2L engine. Has anyone had a chance to drive both? Is the 2.0L more fun since you have to work it a little bit harder. Also does the softer rear suspension in the 2.2L make it a less aggressive car when your handling the curves? Any help would be great thanks.

Welcome to the site rick! I'm sure you would be pleased with either the AP1 or AP2... the fun doesn't stop with AP1 . Yes, there are some performance differences, but it's personal preference and a test drive can help you decide. Did you read through Saki GT's well documented differences for the AP1/AP2 model changeover, that may help you as well. Happy hunting https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=483593

thanks for all the help guys. I test drove a 07 model yesterday and I could definitely feel the extra power in the midrange. Which takes a little bit away from the dramatic rush of power you get in the AP1. I almost bought the car yesterday as well. I was given a great deal, but I always hesitant to much such a large purchase on a whim especially for car that won't be by DD. Also I am unsure of what my insurance will be at 24 years old. I was thinking about waiting until my birthday and since my insurance rate will go down and my current car will be paid off in September. I really like the car so I'm just trying not to be impulsive. Actually after reading what I am typing I have just made up my mind that I will wait until my birthday rolls around in October. that way I'll have one car payment and a large down payment.

thanks for all the help guys.

What self control!! You are to be commended, if I was only that analytical and responsible at age 24. I can see it's gonna happen for you someday... if things look favorable in October, make sure you share some pics with us. Best wishes.
