Default Salvage 2004 s2000

my mom is offering me a car between the bmw and a s2000. ive looked around and i found a salvage 2004 s2000. it was hit on the passenger side but its all been replaced. you cant really tell, it looks brand new.it had 22,xxx and is runnin for about 14,700$. i passed on the bmw cause i would like to EARN that car with my own money. im 16. they said they want to get me a 2 seater because all of my cousins have 2 seater cars.(msm miata, 350z, mr-s, mr2, slk 500) and so she chose the s2000. im going to be paying
half my insurance. im splitting with my mom since shes putting me under hers. you guys think this is a good deal?

I would pass on any car with a salvage title unless I was getting a serious deal. I think you can get a nice clean 02 or 03 for $15-18k that doesn't have the baggage of a wreck - The S2000 is really dependant on its frame for support and driving dynamics - one thats been patched up is not safe imo.

A salvage title on an 04 would mean that, assuming an 04 goes for ~$23k normally, over $17k of damage was done to the car - that's a lot of damage imo.

Offer her $10k for it, and if you d end up with it, you can afford to get any problems fixed.
