Default Security Hood Switch?

what exactly does the Security Hood Switch do?!?! the sounds of security and hood sounds like music to my ears, since some nights i may have to leave the s2k outside in the driveway.. you never know what may happen but it would make me feel better if there was some kind of extra security... is this an option i should pick up... ?

Do you have an alarm system already? Probably your best bet is an aftermarket alarm system with hood, door, and motion sensors and its own battery if you're looking for security - thieves will typically pop the hood from outside the car, disconnect the main battery to still any alarm, break into the car, reconnect the battery and hotwire the car or just tow it away. Having a second small battery foils thieves and keeps the main battery from running down if the car is parked for long periods.

The hood switch is an add on to the factory alarm system. It adds alarm coverage to your hood. I.e. open the hood and the alarm goes off.
