Default Should I get an S2000? Advice Please!

I just recently paid off my 05 accord. I bought it new. Still has low miles, extended warranty and is flawless beyond belief. My problem is I live in Tri-state New York (4 season) and not many S2000 are around here. I am looking at 04-05 model years but all of them seem to be overpriced and abused/not well maintained. The average price is around 24,000 for these cars with all having apprx. 30k on the clock. They all seem to be lease trade in's. all of the ones i have seen are certified 7yr/100k. I ultimately dont need two cars so my accord will have to go, as much as I hate to get rid of it.

I just basically need to know if these are reasonable prices for this car or should I be looking for lower? I was hoping for under 20k for the model yr and mileage but maybe I am naive?

Also, do you think it is a good idea to trade my car for an s2000? or should I consider leasing a new one?

And finally, will I have terrible difficulty getting around in 4 seasons as a daily driver? I expect to be more cautious and incapable of going out in excessive snow/rain but is it livable in everyday traffic?

Thanks guys, I'd appreciate any advice.

under 20k is probally not going to happen with an 04 or 05. You may be able to find an 03 or a slightly higher 03 for that much, but it will take some searching. Good luck with your search.

I think you should definitely be able to find an 04 with 30-40k miles for under $20k. Finding one with under 30k on the clock is going to make the search tougher. And to get a certified car is going to add $2k to the price.

Post up in one of the regional s2ki forums and ask opinions about having the s2k as a daily driver in northern weather.

MY04 cost me $19,999. It had 44K on the odo.

For winter season, I suggest winter tires lol. Believe me, they work wonders.

i used to own an 03 4dr accord. car was paid off and 100% perfect cosmetically. however, it did have a turbo setup and the motor was a little beat on.

personally, best advice i can give you is to prioritize what you need most in a car and if you are willing to make some sacrifices (mainly space-wise and a new car payment) then i say go for it.

BTW, i managed to get a MY 04 certified from a honda dealership in gainesville for $19,120 out the door. car had 30,606 miles when i purchased it and was in flawless shape. clean title, one owner, never smoked in and cosmetically and mechanically impeccible. if you search around, im sure you can find one for around that.

wow guys, thanks for the reply. I guess the main issues I have been seeing in the s2000 around here are paint flaws, scratches, lower fascia scratches/cracks etc. cosmetically speaking, they aren't impeccable and I can't justify spending so much on something when I already have an impeccable car. I truly do want one but I will have to continue searching till I find the perfect one. It sounds like it is possible!

Thanks again!

Good luck with the search for perfect paint. An S that has actually been driven is likely to have countless rock chips and quite a bit of scraping on the front from steep driveways. ;-)

i just purchased a 2005 with 60,000 miles for $17,700. it has some chips in the paint but mechanically looks great. Honda Certified 12/12 and under the 100,000 mile until 2012.
