wow guys, thanks for the reply. I guess the main issues I have been seeing in the s2000 around here are paint flaws, scratches, lower fascia scratches/cracks etc. cosmetically speaking, they aren't impeccable and I can't justify spending so much on something when I already have an impeccable car. I truly do want one but I will have to continue searching till I find the perfect one. It sounds like it is possible!

Thanks again!
The S is a low slung sports car, and paint chips are inevitable. I have an early 07 which is not my dailey driver, and my S has fairly low miles and has never been driven very hard. I had gotten to the point where I now drive almost all the time with a bra on the car. I used to slow down behind other cars to create increased separation just so that I wouldn't get paint chips. Paint chips can be fixed though. Depending on color, a lot of S owners have the front bumper clip repainted for just a few hundred dollars. Paint chips, if they are not too excessive, give the S a patina. The S isn't a museum piece; it's a reasonably priced and reliable high performance sports car that should be enjoyed. A few chips shows that the car has been enjoyed...at least that's what I tell myself.

There is another advantage to owning an S. Most of S owners in this community are a heck of a lot of fun to be around.

I was impressed that mine only had three chips when I bought it. It was a year old and had 5000 miles on it at the time.

Completely true. chips don't bother me so much. The main problem is that the three i want have major issues, or at least in my opinion the are. The front of the one black one has a dent on the hood and the lower fascia has a completely discolored gray scratch from one side to the other. i would say it is about the width of the lower fascia and on one end is about 1 inch thick. The other red one has a crack in the middle of the lower bumper spanning almost the entire length of the lower fascia. Probably someone hit a cement piece in a parking space. also, it has white stripes which are a wreck and ruin the entire car, imo. Lastly, the other black one has been in an accident, hit a parked car, and was a fleet vehicle. and all three have bumper/rear light separation. these 2-3 mm seams that are open on the back near the lights and rear bumper covers. is that normal to have some separation back there? all have less than 30k and all are between 21000 and 23500. Personally, i dont know if im too picky but i dont think i should settle, especially for those prices.
I have that same separation on mine that I just purchased. It has never been wrecked.. so I'm wondering what would cause that as well.. and if it is just normal?

04 and 05s are easily going for under 20k.

Im not sure if anyone has purchased a car lately but the market right now is perfect for someone wanting a sports car. Someone is going to get raped out there selling their car at this time.

As much as I hate to admit it the S is not selling for very much. A friend is trying to sell his 04 for 17.7 with 40k on the clock and its STILL not going. To me thats a steal. But he will have to make sacrifice and either trade it in or let it go for less. He was originally asking 20. Its just not realistic thinking your car will hold its value.

Sad part is we're not even in an economic crisis so I don't get why the prices of sports cars have taken such drastic hits. Its not just the S2000 either way.
