Default Soon to be new owner . . . from SRT-4 to S2000

Hey all,

I'm currently in the hunt for a Leguna Pearl Blue S2000 and plan on getting one within the next couple of weeks (either a 2006 or 2007).

Previously, I had an E-blue SRT-4 with about 10 grand of mods on it. It got totalled by some idiot in a pickup two months ago that rear-ended me at a stop light. I've had it for 7 years and decided it was time to move on to something new with the insurance money.

Anyways, I wanted to say hello and was wondering if any of you knew of any good mechanics in either the Knoxville, Chicago, or Indianapolis areas that could do a reliable pre-purchase inspection for me. Also any tips on things to look out for during my test drive would be very helpful.

It will be nice to finally have the drive wheels in the right place for once!!!

I finally picked the car up yesterday!!! A 2006 LBP.

I'm definitely loving the upgrade. That transmission is just incredible, I'm amazed at what the F22C can do.

A few things I noticed though that are a bit strange. There is this goopy hardened stuff on the inside of the softtop, above the passenger seat.

Also, you can hear the seatbelt constantly rubbing on the seat when you are driving. It sounds like a leather jacket that is constantly flexing. Wonder why it does that???

At first, I thought the low end torque was just god-awful, but that is because I was used to driving a car that had a ton of low-end torque due to the large turbo; you could get away with not having to downshift and still have decent acceleration anyway. So I was pretty disappointed with the torque . . . at first.

Then I figured out that as long as you force yourself to downshift, there is plenty for a car this light.

The car has SUCH resposive handling that it was actually a little scary for me at first. Definitely going to have to get used to it.

Also, apparently a Honda dealer ran a PPI and said the battery was bad. Do the batteries go bad often on these?

I'll have some pics up tomorrow

Sounds like "dirt" on the inside of the top, clean it off. Unless it was used to patch the top.

Yes, I notice the seatbelt rubs, if it's flat then not so much, maybe a bit of silicon on that spot will fix it.

What you have to get used to is to rev the engine in the full band. So you can shift after 5k+ RPM, obviously not like other cars. However, don't go into VTEC (6k+ and pedal to the metal) if you are not going straight or not familiar with the car. The amount of torque is about the same as a 4 cyl Accord, but clearly a lighter, smaller car.

Well, I know I am a little late on the pics, but here are a few! (Better late than never)

I forgot to take a picture of the stuff on the ceiling . . . I'll do that tomorrow.

I just discovered how much I like the mute button today. No one ever seems to mention it. Don't know why.
