Soon to be s2000 owner!
They're buying you a car for you not doing something?
Anyways, for that budget and mileage/MY range, I found something for under $15k. I'd probably look for a 2006+ (VSA) and, unless you're looking for certified, maybe try private sellers first.

WOW lucky, wish my parents purchased a car for me when I graduated high school. Is this your first car? (please take care of it, don't do anything stupid, the S is going to bite you back)
Take your time searching for a S, like previously mention DO NOT over pay for this car especially at a dealer. Good Luck with graduating high school.

I don't mean to sound condescending just because you're just graduating high school, but if you want to drive fast go out on the track. The S2000 is an excellent track car. Don't bother trying anything on the street. You won't learn anything and will get yourself or someone else hurt. I'm a novice too, and my karting instructor said, "Take it slow out there. You won't learn anything if you're in the dirt all the time."
Plus, S2000 owners already get enough attention from the wrong crowd and most people think we're just a bunch of idiot boy ricers. I'd like to prove them wrong if at all possible

I thought about that a few days ago cause my parents know I would try something stupid... lol thanks for the advice, I'll drive safely and won't make the rest of the s2k community look bad!

VSA? I've been looking into certified sellers since some can offer warranties even though they can get a little pricey. I feel kind of sketchy buying a car from a private seller cause some don't tell you everything about the car, you just have to trust them with what they tell you. Does this make any sense? haha I'm typing this while I'm half awake.
