Soon to be S2K owner
So I've done my fair share of research about these cars and other cars this past year. To give you some background on my situation I went from struggling to holding a decent job the past couple of years and now I have one and I am ready to upgrade to a newer car. My current car is a 2002 Civic. I started researching at first RX8's, G35's and then FRS/BRZ. After browsing over several forums, reviews, and videos I found that most people came to the same conclusion of buying an S2K. So I researched some more and made my decision. I am planning on picking one up this weekend. I have a fair share of knowledge with cars but mechanically I am still learning. My pops does body work and I have helped him on several jobs for years now and have some experience in that field so body and paint will not be an issue. I will Test drive a couple of cars this weekend out in the Fullerton and OC area because there are two dealers out there with several S2k's on the lot. I prefer to make a down payment and pay monthly since my credit is not so good. I don't qualify for an auto loan. I know I should be sure to notice how the car handles and if there are any noises at idle or driving to make sure there are no issues with the car before purchase but do you suggest anything else I should look out for or keep in mind before making my purchase? I look forward to joining all you guys within the S2K experience and hope you guys have some insight for me.

Check for:
1. Typical soft top wear areas for holes.
2. Dreaded dash flicker (turn on all the accessories).
Other than those two, I think you have the rest covered. Good luck with the purchase.

Yeah I am still debating whether I should buy with with a hard top installed. They had a couple with some on the lot when I dropped by to take a quick look the first time. Hard tops are pricey lol. But if I go without a hard top I will be sure to double check the soft top. Also know I should go with a glass rear instead of the plastic ones.

I am going to print this out and memorize it and will also take notes. I should be able to haggle with the dealer depending on the condition of the car which would help. Thanks for the link! Much appreciated.

2004 with about 70K miles. Previous owners had rims and I assume coilovers installed. Also a single tip exhaust which is pretty loud. Sounds beastly. Will have to wait to jack it up to see the specifics on mods. I am so love with this car. Not really liking the rims but I can always switch it up later and maybe the exhaust too not sure if I love it or hate it. I'll take a couple more tomorrow. s like a dream. Pretty well kept overall.
Can't believe I am finally an owner.
