Default Soon to be S2K owner

Hi everybody

Been lurking for a few weeks...
I just sold my 03' MR2 last week, did a lot of work to that car, 2zz swap & all the needed enhancements to go with it. She was quick & nimble.

Unfortunately an accident left it handling like crap, so after 4 months of trying to work things out I jumped ship.

Time to start fresh with a new platform. Something more practical. The S2K was the best choice. Im looking to get an 00-03 AP1, black, silverstone, maybe red... low miles 20-40k .

Sent a few PM's for cars in the private sales section, also have been checking ebay & cars.com, would rather buy from an enthusiast so I know they cared for the car & didnt leave it up to the clowns at the stealerships (if Honda is anything like toyota)

Immediate plans after I get used to the car are turbo kit, head gasket, ARP studs, ACT Clutch & a good tuning session. Maybe Mahle drop in pistons & some other stuff, but I have to do a little more research. Better tires for autoX perhaps.
Im not gonna post a bunch of questions... yet, I like to read & try to learn from whats already been posted.
But if anyone has any tips for me or cars for sale, im all ears.

I have seen a lot of s2000's while driving around the island, looking forward to meeting you guys & girls.

thanks

Im going to look at a '00 with 20k miles tomorrow, AP2 wheels, very clean overall. The guy is the second owner & has had the car for +6 years.

I know the first year of a new car always has its kinks. But with only 20k miles they might not be apparent yet.

Any potential issues I should look for in particular?

Early AP1 problems to look out for:

Check second gear grind in high rpms
Check rear window and top condition
Ask if it burns oil and how much
Check if it has clutch buzz while slowing down

I bought the car, going back tuesday to pick it up.

Only issue I noticed was the clutch "buzzing", but thats not a big deal. It grabs fine, but a little high compared to what Im used too. Im gonna put in an ACT soon anyway.

It has the Wheels & Head unit from a 2004, Boston Acoustic speakers... besides that its pretty much stock.

Here are some pics from the ebay auction. Forgot to bring my camera.

thanks.

I just got home from my first night of driving her. Its been raining buckets all week so I took it easy.

Car is great, but there a few things I need to get used to.
First, this car is cramped on the inside, Im coming from an MR-S, so that is really saying something. Also Im not used to hearing the engine in front of me
The digital gauges are gonna need some time to grow on me also. They're cool, just awkward right now.

I bought a Berk test pipe from a fellow member, will throw that on this weekend.. also adjust the clutch pedal a bit, I like using the floor as a reference point, but there is too much overall travel in the stock adjustment for that.

All in all Im very happy with my purchase & look forward to years of enjoyment.
