Default Soon to be S2K owner with questions :)

Hi guys I been roaming in the classifieds for quite some time now until I found a local BB AP1

I havent made the purchase yet but I wanted to come on here and ask a couple questions first.

So the s2k I'm looking at has been repainted due to hail damage. He said the soft top and panels were replaced and painted.
However the title is clean, I'm just confused because wont the replacement of panels and paint salvage the car already??

Any feed back would be great

Thanks!

Salvage would indicate the car being totalled. To total a car most insurance companies look for damage to meet or exceed the value of the car.

Yes but I was just thinking replacing the hood, trunk, soft top, panels, paint and labor would be very costly already. Are there any areas I should look out for when I look at the car again? Like problem areas or anything. Also is hearing the Timing chain tensioner normal/common?

TCT is an easy and cheap fix. It's normal and very common I've had it on all 3 of my ap1's

Check for a clutch buzz.

Body panel parts IE(Bumper fender etc) have vin numbers check if numbers match were panels fixed or just replaced?

Any random aftermarket parts on the car?

Check the top a new soft top and/or hardtop can be fairly expensive does it have glass window or plastic window?

Have you ran it through carfax?

Most important to me at least if you have never driven another s2000. Drive another one that runs well and then go drive that one

Simple things for the most part
