Default STI owner looking at S2000's

I currently have a 06 STI and I have been seriosuly looking into a AP1 S2000.

Anyone on this board come from an STI? I want to know what you like and dislike. I already know I'm going to miss the torque...

I'm looking for a car that I don't have to modify to be happy. The STI is an awesome car but it is lacking in a few areas and being a turbo, is way to easy to make more power. I auto cross frequently and know how well the S2K is in the stock form but how are they to DD? Am I going to love the car for a month or 2 (since it's something new) then regret the trade?

I know this is a S2K board so I'm going to get biased responses but I appreciate any insight.

That is what I want. Don't get me wrong, the STI brings many grins to my face, but I feel like I want something that is more nimble and doesn't need to have money thrown at it to perform well on the track and function as a DD.

My friend has an 06 STI. It is very fast. But, no offense, it felt like a sedan. Even when I just gave him a ride in my s2000 he kept praising it for actually "feeling" fast. As if it was purpose built for that sole reason, whereas the STI was more of a "slap it together" afterthought.

Plus, the transmission on the s2000 is incredible. I daily drive my S2000 and the high revving isnt a problem at all. The seats are comfortable as well. Radio sucks though.

But for bad weather, the STI is great. Where do you live?

I live in Chicago. I understand this car should not be driven in the snow or winter weather that's why I have a DD lined up.

The S2K would likely be driven lightly in the winter months and full time in the spring/summer/fall.

i had a 02 s2k, than 04 sti(stage 2 protuned) now i'm back in an 03 s2k. i liked the sti, but i love the s2k. the sti is nice for its all weather driveability. it is faster than the s2k and is more cost effective to mod if you want power. but overall i feel it is lacking in quality. to me just the fit and finish of the s2k far exceeds the sti. i drive the s2 daily and have no problems with it.i also agree with somebody above that said something like its just as simple as the feeling you get when you drive it.its unexplainable but it is what it is,and it sure feels right. hope that helps.

I had a Wrx not a STI before i had my s2000. The s2000 does lack a lot of torque but it is a hell lot funner car to drive. If you can afford to keep the STi i say keep it just because of the 4door and the Awd. Good luck and post a picture of the STI.

I used to own an ap1.

ap1 is not forgiving when it comes on being DD. It has less leg room and space compare to the STi. However, Ap1 has better gas mileage, less maintenance, and cheaper in every way compare to the STi.

somethings i like about the STi:
lots of torque and power
faster on "some" turns and you have great control
practical: i can bring that car to camping or snowboarding and have enough room for my stuff. i can fit 4 people in the car

somethings i dont like about s2000:
top down
gas mileage is better
rwd
its a honda = its reliable
