Default Subaru guy here

Hello, i really love s2k's i currently own a 2003 subaru wrx with 292awhp. I plan on trading it flat out for a s2k if i can find the right one. I am very new to s2k's so i don't know how the game is played at all...of coarse everyone on the subaru forums is going to say SUBARU. I want to hear you the s2000 owners side of the story personal experiences etc.

ive gotten this offer so far

"Well The ecu is flashed with a diff ecu to have a harder pull when v-tec kicks in. in so doing this the odo is mess up since i had to turn mine in for a core. (higher mileage then really on the car.
injen cca (one that goes in front of the bumper)
kcr headers
skunk2 70mm stright through pipe
d/c sport exhaust so smooth and sooooooo nice cannot complain
fully synthetic oils all aroun even in the diff
17" staggered drag z (hella light) with lock lugs
no name coilovers sitting really nice
recaro seats with sparco harness and rails
dvd player
jl audio w-3 sub and amp
blacked out lights
I has a new engine replaced by honda as of 10,000 miles ago
(reason being there is stilla warranty on the car that is trasferable
clean and clear title
never been turboed of really messed with just basic add ons
It also has new paint
all tune up clutch, ect has been replace 10,000 miles ago too when engine was replaced"

i don't know if i should consider this sketchy maybe all s2000 require new engines and crazy odo problems????

It all depends on what you are looking for out of the car. If you're a numbers guy, it's hard to beat the WRX/Evo crowd. Coming from a guy who owns a car somewhere between a WRX and S2k, let me tell ya the first thing you notice when getting behind the S2k and driving it is, "where's the torque?" But once you get passed that, the car absolutely freaking shines. The shifter is amazing, the turn-in and response (at least w/ my experience with AP2s) is second to none, and that happy revving F22C reminds you why Honda is king of the NA 4-cylinder game.

The thing is, the STi is great because of the stuff that's added to it: better AWD, more boost, more gears. The S2000 is great not just because of the stuff it has, but also because of the stuff it doesn't have! It a proper, two-seater, no-nonsense RWD roadster. If you take a visceral driving experience over 1/4 mile times, a chassis that's fundamentally dynamic (being that this platform is solely to make the S2k rather than have 10 other cars off of its platform) rather than a hopped up one, and overall a genuine sports car that's engaging to drive that forces you to be the better driver rather than just looking good and having the AWD step in to save the day, than the S2000 is the way to go.

That s2k sounds ... odd.

I'd keep shopping around.

I'm on my 3rd s2k, and in between s2k's I had a STI and Evo IX MR... I keep coming back to the real sports car.

I came from a 04 WRX. I have to say the WRX is a lot more comfortable than the s2k for sure. But a s2k handles very well so thats worth the trade imo. Take your time and find a stock s2000 if you can.

one thing that got me to decide on a s2000, is the fact that people keep their s for a long time, and alot of people are on their 2nd 3rd and 4th S.

I had a 98 cobra and a evo VIII. Now u will miss the tq but besides that the S is great. Looks way better and the driver feel is just more there for me. And great beach car. Best would be keep the wrx and get a cheap S. I want another car and keep my CR i want something like a evo, wrx, cobra, or another honda fit
