A LOT of Subaru transmission failures are from abuse/improper driving technique. Yes, the WRX transmissions aren't exactly the strongest out there but if you drive them correctly they can handle a pretty good amount of power.

Nice introduction

I was going the opposite direction and was going to get a STi next. But so far, seems I am getting another S2000. Can't really find a decent STi with low miles on it in my price range....

yeah that is pretty true. I guess it's hard to find a unmolested one too. What I meant is in comparison to the 04 and up. I never had transmission problems; only because I was too scared to try anything.

Welcome! I came from 1 WRX & 3 STI before settling down w/ the s2k. You'll miss the torque but that can easily be fixed

The trick to driving RWD: when taking a turn, gun it so you can go sideways!

But really be careful when driving in the rain, you will go sideways. otherwise congrats on the purchase!

When did I say gunning it will hurt the diff? I said that drifting will end up in you having to replace your diff. Either I drive like a pansy or maybe you can't read. Either way there's no public track in Hawaii and I'd prefer to keep my stupidity off the streets as much as possible, so excuse me for being a pansy.
