Thinking of trading in my 00 prelude for an s2k
Insurance for S and Prelude should be almost the same. My roommates prelude is a 98 non SH and would actually cost me more than my 00 S. Insurance co.'s rate cars by symbols. His Prelude is like a 23 and my S is only a 19. I noticed that the newer the year S, the higher the symbol. Now the NSX is like a 24 or 25, the highest.
I sont see why maintenance would cost more on an S...?.. Please explain.
Also you have to take into consideration that the S is a lot more expensive to maintain.
yeah, but ive looked for swaps. It's not the parts that are hard to find, its the labor. Pple wanna charge me 2-7grand for a swap. And the reliability of the swap actually working right without a hitch is well idk. I still have a warrenty on my car and that will void the drivetrain. Im not sure if i shud just wait till my lude is paid off in 2-3 years and just work on her the best i can or what.

I used to own a 2001 Prelude SE (SE = leather + SH style wheels and some other extra bits in Canada). My S2K's insurance is actually slightly cheaper! (My coverage was the same across the board.) But that's mainly because the Preludes in Vancouver were in the same category as Corvettes, at least according to our insurance company.
The one thing I did notice in going from my Lude to the AP1 was that the Lude had more torque. This is just from Lude to AP1 though. I do miss my Lude but I love the S2K more
Good luck in your decision. There are a lot of Lude->S2K owners here

I came from a BB6 Prelude TypeSH myself. I miss my Prelude a lot (because it truly was a great car), but definitely enjoy owning the S at the moment more
As far as doing tranny conversion on your lude? I would say don't waste your time and money. You would be better off getting another car.
As for boosting? It's a personal thing. I personally am not too hungry for the power, and am looking for more fun factor and experience from the S2000. I would much rather get the RWD S2000 with less power than a boosted lude.
Some may even argue that boosted FWD cars run into many issues (torque steer, etc) and cannot fully utilize the power after a certain point (i.e. it's very difficult to get enough grip on the FWD layout with normal street performance tires ...).
Anyway ... I always say this: just make sure you aren't very tight in your financial situation. Both a boosted lude and S2000 (or any sports cars in general) could cause you to spend more than you originally expected. i.e. speeding tickets, wear and tear, etc because you would be much more tempted to drive the car hard. In fact, the lude could eat up your wallet more in that sense ...
Alright, I'm just rambling ... but these are just my thoughts. Good luck!
