Default Thinking of trading in my 00 prelude for an s2k

Hey everyone i'm new to this forum. I currently own a 2000 Honda Prelude SS, yes thats sporshift and it's auto. So you understand my dilema before i even describe it. I want more power, and i've found the limitations to an h22a4 with an auto tranny. I've considered 5spd swaps, much too costly and doing a rebuild on my auto tranny so it can handle boost. But sumone told me that an auto with boost doesnt say much about the driver and it's tacky. Imagine that huh?! Anyway, i've always loved the s2k. I love hondas in general. I just can't stop ripping thru vtec. But i thin an s2k wud be great. I'm looking for a f22c 04+ s2k. I've read alot about s2k's and i'm pretty well diversed. These cars make great n/a builds and vicious boost projects. But ive still got 2-3 years to pay off on my lude. I own about 9-10 grand on her and she has 59k miles. I'm the 2nd owner. I just recently painted my prelude championship white and have bronze rims on them with a lip kit. It's very clean and very appreciated. So im in a pickle of a bind if i should trade the lude or just work with what i have and life with it. I love my prelude to death and if it was a 5spd, i wudnt even be here right now. I have thought about building up the tranny to handle boost. Most say 6-7psi wont hurt, but there is the known rumor that the auto tranny just cant handle boost, barely under n/a conditions. Anyway here are some pics and tell me what you all think i should do. I've had her for 2 years and counting and she's been nothing but love for me. But the walls of reality come crashing down on me when i wanna get more power out of her.

his is a 98, he's into paddle shifters and sheeeit like that though. bleh
Depends on what you want, I sold my civic cause I got hooked on rwd.
well, and the S2000 has always been a favorite of mine. Once it got a few years old and more affordable, I got one.

Well.... If your unhappy with the potential of your car, i'd say move on! This was my previous car....

I was unhappy with the power, and wanted more stock. The S2000 was everything I could have imagined and more, you won't find a better handling car with the best transmission out there!

Do it! I am an ex-Prelude (4th gen) guy here, and I love it. You won't regret it.

ok, i was wanting black, white or red. ALso i know the 04+ is the year i want. But i have a limited budget. I pay 312 for my prelude a month. I wud like to find an s2k under 20k at least and ive found sum. I also know, the difference between the f22c and the f20c. But how much of a difference is it?! I know either way its much faster then a prelude at any year of s2k. But i love the lower redline which helps with the power to kick in sooner plus a lil more tq. But if i found a good deal on a 00-03 i wud prolly get it. I dont know how to drive stick, so i will have to learn. I figure 60 months at about 300, i cud easily do 400 a month, but we'll see. But my dream car is an nsx. There's a 1991 black nsx for sale with 77k miles on it for 25k. What do you all think?? Or maybe i shud just keep my prelude, rebuild the tranny so it can handle boost. Cuz i love my prelude and it's so tough to give it up, cuz i really dont want to.

The NSX is tempting, but I would get an S2k with lower miles and newer. Unless this isnt your daily driver. The insurance on an NSX will be more too.

there is a noticeable torque difference with the f20 and f22. i say go for the s2k, but its gonna be almost impossible to find an ap2 for 20k or under. low 20's for sure. the nsx sounds like a good deal, but that is some high mileage. i would be happier with a newer lower mileage car, maybe you can find something thats still in warranty depending on your apr, your payments on a 25k dollar s2k could be anywhere from 400-600. but hopefully you have decent credit. good luck!

Yes insurance will be alot more than on your prelude. Just call your insurance for a quote. Also you have to take into consideration that the S is a lot more expensive to maintain.

If I were you with all the time and money already into the lude. I would just get a manual tranny from the salvage yard with low mileage and put it in the lude and be done with it.
