Used s2k, getting certified
Ok here's the deal, I am looking at an 02 red s2k w/ 16.5k miles for $21,250. I think the price is reasonable, but it doesn't come with any honda warranty. The dealer that is selling it is a private dealer, not a honda dealer. Is there anyway I can get them to certify the car for me so I can buy it as a certified used car? Would I have to pay them for the certification, since it's a private dealer? And lastly, do you think its worth it to get a warranty? My plans are to autocross the car, which can be grueling and repairs expensive.
thanks
thanks
In order to get a Certified car , from my understanding of the program , it has to be sold , checked out and reported as certified by a Honda dealership . The car also has to be stock . Altered cars are not qualified for certification . You might want to call your local dealer as I have heard some manufacturers allow a customer to have their car checked out and certified by the dealer but I do not know that Honda has this available .
I have an 01 Yellow with 26 K Miles tht I am concidering selling but am not sure I want to . Has AEM intake , and a full Alpine stereo certified with a 100k Honda extended warranty too . Im not sure the warranty may be transferrable too .

Best place to start looking for Honda CPO is honda.com
That is where I found mine. CPO is only sold by Honda dealers. Honda will not certify any car that you purchased by other dealers.
You can always check warranty direct or your local bank/credit union for extended warranty. My Credit Union had a very competitive rate on extended warranty.

in feb I picked up my MY03 with 33K for 19K.
ceritifed with the honda 7yr/100K certified.
my other choice was an MY00 w/16K miles for 18K that couldn't be certified (too old)
yes you can find them. and you can even get a great deal on a low mileage example. Lots of people bought s2ks expecting an Accordesque riding roadster and didn't drive them much when they found out they were not a cushy weekend toy, but a true rather raw sports car.
