Want to buy s2k
Sup guys?
First of all, i drove my friends 2004 s2k and fell in love with it. I only have enough money to purchase a 2000 s2k.
I will be modifying the car a lot. Is after market parts on 2000 limited? How does it respond with after market parts? Would this be like owning a BMW; with all its expenses?
I will be targeting around 350hp.
Thank you so much.

There are as many after market parts for the 2000 as any other year.. most are universal, and those that are not, are generally produced for both generations. S2000 doesn't 'respond' too well to bolt on modifications since the engine comes highly tuned from the factory and there is little room for improvement. Anyone would be happy with 25whp from full bolt ons. New final drive gears are a popular performance mod. They won't give you more power, but they make your car a good deal quicker. Typically considered the best bang for the buck.
S2000 is not an expensive car to own, operate, or fix, but its fairly expensive to mod.. considering we live in the day of factory turbo cars. For 350whp you will absolutely need forced induction. A $5,000 super charger kit with smaller pulley, new injectors, etc etc, or a turbo kit such as that offered from inline pro.

You'll spend a lot of money to hit the 350 hp mark. Even with my SC and exhust my car 2004 S2000 is only at 300 hp mark (at the wheels of course). I believe that more realistic mark for a 2000 S2000 would be to hit around 315 hp.
Anything after that and you will probably spend over $10k total... unless that's what you want do.

How do you only have enough money to buy a MY00 but have enough to "modify the car a lot" to hit 350HP?
Do you mean you'd rather spend less on the car and more on mods?

Seriously. The cash you are going to invest to get 350 hp could be invested on a newer car. If you are really wanting all of that power, I would half to suggest considering a different car. Some of the other guys here that know more about performance mods will be able to tell you for certain, but I am under the impression that achieving that kind of power increase is going to cost you several thousand dollars. I could be wrong.
IMHO smart money buys a new or at least newer S2K with a warranty and worry about mods later. But this is your money and your decision. I encourage you to pursue that which makes you happy.

Of course i will lose a lot of races. That wasn't my point. Can somebody here please take me serious?
I just want to buy a s2000, because it is a beautiful car. You don't see them as much as STI, 350z and evolutions. I want something that other people don't have. I like being different. Over time when i modify it i don't want to be disappointed if i race a similarly modified 350z, evolution or a sti. I would rather let the better driver win, and not the car.
Thanks
