Warm Greetings
Warm Greeting from a new S2K owner. After several months of lurking on the forums to learn about these cars, I bought a 2006 S2000 in Laguna Blue Pearl. It turned 25,000 miles on the way back to Minnesota from IL. That was about two weeks ago.
This was a negotiated purchase well before buying the car; I suggested to my wife that I might be interested in selling my motorcycle and M3 to buy an S2000; she counter-offered that if I get rid of the motorcycle, I could buy any damn thing I want. Thanks Hon.
I’m still in the process of selling my 2003 Aprilia Tuono and a ’95 M3. I’ve done track driving and instructing with my BMW club for 20 years but have kind of lost interest in the driving over the last 3 years or so - although I still instruct. The M3 has a streetable track suspension - streetable but unpleasant after any distance. Time for it to go to someone who will take it back to the track.
The Tuono was an empty-nest purchase. Used to ride before kids, so lets get a bike now that they’re gone. The Tuono has been great fun and an interesting challenge, but I AM going to fall down if I keep riding it the way I ride it. At 64 years old, it’s going to hurt more than in the old days. Off to Craigslist you go.
So, what do I think about the trade so far? The S2000 is even better than I expected. I could list a hundred things I really like about it (probably the front wheel well to fender top is my favorite design feature). I’ve got less than a handful of things I would change (back end is a bit Miata-ish). I really appreciate that there is this community of S2K enthusiasts. You helped me bunches in finding and buying my car. I hope that I can give back to S2KI over the coming years.
Regards,
Dick
