What should i do?
So I currently drive a 2003 civic lx coupe. Boring, but good on insurance, good mpg, and very practical.
I went to the honda dealer today, and checked out a 2008 and 2009 civic si sedan. Test drove the 08, and overall, I was NOT impressed. The drive by wire makes the car feel slow to respond, and it definitely has a tendency to rev hang (before the civic I had a 02 type S with intake/exhaust/headers).
Fortunately, I can use my corporate card to get a fleet discount on any honda. For the 08 model, it is factory stock, and they gave me a price of 20,082, before fees and taxes. OTD, I'd imagine 22k.
I also took a look at the 09, and it looks slightly different, better imo. They replaced the front grill, its got better looking headlights, plus it has some other goodies like ipod usb and fog lights. Factory stock, they priced it at 20,962.
Now the things I need to consider are this. Insurance for a civic in my area is already high, not to mention an si version. I'll expect to pay $200/month for an si, whereas I currently pay about 160. Both cars are brand new, and the deal I'm getting is pretty much a couple hundred dollars over invoice. Its a smoking price, but they are only offering about 6k for the trade in, which is valued at about 8.5k.
-Should I get the si?
-Save money and keep the civic (especially with the shitty economy, there is no telling what might happen to my company)
-Been there, done that with K20, go for s2k (which I've always wanted, and insurance will be about the same as si)
-Or wait for CTR in 2010?
