Wind turbulence and noise- what's the truth

Every time we get caught in the rain they all rag me for having to stop and put up the top (and often for getting soaking wet in the process).

I have not done the mod myself nor have I seen it in person, just read what the others in the thread say. Being form Georgia, you probably know SCHighlander and are familiar with his mod.
I've never driven a Miata or an MX-5, I am just a dedicated Honda owner, and the S id after all a Honda. After all you comments, I will have to test one.
As an introductions forum moderator here, I must say that we do not advocate bypassing the interlocks on the soft top mechanism.
Personally, I think that Honda's requiring pulling of the e-brake is a lilttle heavy-handed, but really what's the big deal? Don't forget, this is the fastest power top in the world. A full stop is perhaps overkill as well, but I'll just say this... don't be putting that top up in more than a 10MPH head wind. Fully extended, the top is quite a sail and all you'll get from me is a wry chuckle if you damage it.
Seriously, the top is not designed to be put up or down in the wind, and I can pretty much assure you that AHM will have little sympathy if they discover your bypass and you try to claim top damage under warrantee.

LOL, yea, we're usually running as fast as the prevailing conditions permit, so I'd have to slow to a near stop anyway. I've grown old driving roadsters with manual tops and the idea of putting an automatic top up while moving sounds like bad advice.
I usually have the boot over the top when it's down, so I've got to stop to take that off even if I don't have to stop to put the top up.
It's not really a matter of how fast I can get the top up, but rather that I need to put it up at all, when they don't.
