Wondering if I should buy an S2000
I need some help deciding if I should get one or not. I guess I'll explain a little about my needs/wants and what I have right now.
In 2005 I bought a 2005 Honda Civic DX coupe, I wanted something that looked pretty good and wasn't too concerned with power at the time. I got into a 60 month (5 year) purchase for a purchase price of $18,900 Canadian. So right now I'm 2.5 years into the payments and I guess I owe somewhere around $11,000, not totally certain. So if I can sell my car for that much which should be simple, I can get a S2000 for about $25,000 and be paying the same or less per month as I am now.....right? Is that how much I'd expect to pay for a 2005/2006? Right now my car has 52,000 kilometers on it. I don't drive it much since I work in Manhattan and take the train to work, but I move around a lot for work including Alberta - Quebec - Georgia - New York all on this car. So I'd be doing that with the S2000 as well if I got it. Space is not really an issue as long as it'll hold 2 suitcases and some miscellaneous stuff, and it'll be used as a daily driver as well. Plus next year I think I'll finally settle down in one place and quit moving.
My car's currently got Tenzo-R (racing?) seats, a Tein S-Tech suspension and 18 inch gunmetal 7 spoke Tenzo-R Drive X-7 wheels on it. I mention this because I no longer have the OEM parts, I ditched them when I moved so I'd have to sell the car like it is or swap someone for the OEM parts if the buyer made a fuss. It's also Canadian so the speedometer is in kilometers and I'm living and working in New York so would that make it harder to sell here? I might have to swap in a mile per hour gauge cluster and then I'd have to have the odometer changed as well.
So my question is why shouldn't I buy the S2000? Is there anything wrong with those years I should know about? I've been happy with my Honda, but does this car fall apart once the warranty is over? What should I do specifically when I take one for a test drive to check? Would I be overpaying for that price? I was looking at some on Autotrader which is how I bought my Civic. Thanks guys, hoping I'm not getting overlooking any purchase options and getting ahead of myself here!

i have an 05 and i love mine. just so u know there is a big difference from the 05 to the 06. i dont like the 06 cause of the drive by wire, that is why i got an 05. u can find a nice 05-06 for anywhere from 20k-25k with low miles. do a search on here to see the things u would and would;nt like about the year change, then go do a test drive to see. good luck the s2000 is a very good car to have and u will have alot of fun with it.
Looks like I've settled on the 2006 unless the one available 2007 in my area works out. I like the idea of the VSA and the drive by wire plus the headrest speakers, nice for when the top's down! Now I have to find out the resale value of my Civic.
Drive by wire is one of the worst things ever in some implementations. I have it on my Mazda 6s and it ruins what might otherwise have been a fun car.
I don't know how the S2000's is, but make sure you feel out any hesitation or input lag before you decide on a purchase.

yeah on the DBW system there is a pretty big delay when letting off the gas and shifting, i always shift right before red line and on the DBW u will bounce it off the rev limiter at first. u will just have to learn how to shift it so that wont happen.
