Worth It To AP1? Or Wait AP2?

Buy an ap1 now. Graduate, sell the ap1 buy a newer s2000. Or just make it perfect and keep it. You need an s2000 now!!!
It might be better to hold off if you can live without it. My story, I'm probably like most of you enthusiasts when it comes to liking cars since as far as you can remember. Playing alot of gran turismo and arcade racer type games. Then when I was 15 got a 240sx. Around 19-20, I sold it cause I had a bent front subframe when I fell into a ditch when my outer tie rod sheared off. My alignment was fkked and was losing compression in one of my cylinders cause the sparkplug threads where jacked. Drove my dads tacoma for 2 years. Holy shit man something was off those 2 years. I felt like an ancient warrior that didn't have a proper horse, like I was riding a mule or some shit. I was mentally getting frustrated waking up everday cause I wanted a car that had a soul. I worked as an entry level tech/oil change guy at an independent shop, test drove some s2ks when I had the chance. Then..., I didn't care if I lived off PB&J sandwiches and top ramen for a year. I needed to get a real car as if a warrior needed a real horse. Currently out of state, I miss the car. But yeah, If I didn't have that urge to get one I would've been better off not getting one. But I don't regret it at all. I realized something the past few months. The meaning of life. Not many people know, and some people die without knowing, just ask your neighbors what they think about it. But the answer is real simple. It's in our declaration of independence, the pursuit of happiness. So to me, any decision that leads to happiness is a good and proper one.

That's deep but very well said. I can live without it. I know for sure I will finish school first and stick with the Nissan if anything. But my want for an AP1 now should I not get into the program this year is something that will yes, make me happy and is do-able. So in your literal sense considering your post, I should do it as it makes me happy. Maybe yes this is some sort of stupid "quarter-life crisis" thing possibly as I mentioned Im 25 and want my dream car relatively soon. However, I need a plan should I not get into the health program this year. Something that drives me to keep doing what I'll be doing day-to-day(working) since I have finished pre-requisite classes. However, my sensible side is saying do not get an AP1 as I don't need it, I only want it. But that would be like saying you don't "need" stuff that makes you happy. It's yes and no.
Sorry I think your post is making me overthink but nice write up indeed.
I own a ap1 and went through this debate also before pulling the trigger on a s2000 also. I constantly was reading over the forums on pros/cons between the 2 etc. Someone told me this which I'm a believer to this now, the ap1 is a better s2000, the ap2 is a better car.

I used to own an AP2 and currently have an AP1. Both new formula red. Both really good cars. I prefer the AP1 cars because of how responsive they are. The oversteer reputation of the AP1 is way over exaggerated. I have a good amount of track time and have no complaints with the AP1 (although I installed stiffer 2005 front springs and an eibach front swaybar on my AP1).
My advice: Buy the nicest S2000 you can afford regardless of the year.

Yeah its way over exaggerated, your not going to simply over steer if your driving like a normal person with correct tires. When I over steered for the first time it was raining and I took a 90 degree turn and midway smashed the throttle thinking I was a "drifter".

I'd like to throw in my $0.2 by saying get it when you feel is right, focus in school & work, but I've always thought it is easier to deal with something once it is yours than planning in the long way. ESPECIALLY now that you don't have children. I just picked up my S AP1 two nights ago, year model 2000, with an OEM hardtop & AP2 seats, with 96,000 in the odo., paid cash but I do not regret it one single bit, aesthetically is not the best, hail damage from previous owner, but clean inside & strong engine, it is a Honda what else do you expect. I too am a student, full time job, twenty seven years old, in the National Guard, mortgage, bills, the whole nine yards. Except children, main reason of why I pulled the trigger. The time will come for you too, AP1 & AP2 are both great, I wouldn't focus so much on that.
