Default WTB S2000

Hello everyone I am new to the honda realm. I own a DSM right now and am looking to get an S2k. I test drove one and loved it I would like to get a 00-03 model is there anything I need to be weary of? What are the differences b/t the 2.2L and the 2.0L and any other big defferences besides the exterior b/t the newer ones and 00-03 ones???

Most people will tell you to use the SEARCH function but since it is your first day here, I will give you a break

The basic differences between the AP1 and AP2 are:
1) The look of the car is different. I like the AP2 better)
2) AP1 -> 2.0lt vs. AP2 -> 2.2lt. I prefer the AP1 engine since it has 9000 rpm. AP2 engine has more torque but has 1000 rpm less therefore performance-wise both cars are the same.

PS: My suggestion, get an 02 instead of paying $4K $5K more to an 04-05 and Super Charge it...

For the older models, you need to be aware that the car comes with a pretty weak differential. They strengthened the diff on the ap2 models but they come with the oh so beneficial clutch delay valve. So both models have flaws but not a big deal at all. When you're buying the car, just get a compression and leakdown test and for AP1, try to get a glimpse of how the diff was treated by the driver.

Honestly, i'd get an 03. You can find one with ~15000 miles for under 25k, which i think is a bargain.

One of my local Honda dealers (I think it's Mike Piazza) had an '04 with less than 2000 miles for under $26k in the Sunday auto section of tomorrow's Philadelphia Inquirer.

I almost bought an '03, but got a used '04 for $25,700 about 15 months ago and I love it.

actually, the weak point in the diff is no stronger on the AP2.

the delay valve has just reduced the number of failures.

I too would get a 02-03. They will start at about 20K for one without any issues and decent mileage.

Actually, you should also have a look at the FAQ thread of links at the top of the Introductions forum page. That should help lead you to some useful discussions.

And, yeah, click on Search at the top of the page to help you find useful threads.

Best wishes.
