Default Event Ideas

Hey guys,

I've been brain storming some ideas and figured I'd share with you. I've been tasked with creating a weekly schedule for myself and sticking to it for an allotted time, and that includes trying to plan some stuff like dinners and events and such on a somewhat regular basis. So I thought maybe we could plan some more S2k stuff.

Since not everyone is a morning person, I thought maybe, if people are interested, try to do a weekly dinner of some sort somewhere? Could do a specific place or some place new. Not really picky, but just thought I would be a good idea so if people are going to miss the Sunday coffee because it's too early or something, there could be another weekly meetup to go to.

Another idea is scheduling a monthly cruise to somewhere for like a day trip or something. I've been told the drive to Amelia up Heckscher is beautiful, so that could be a trip. Eat lunch there, maybe take the ferry across to Mayport back or something. We could do one to St. Augustine too. I'm open to ideas.

I also thought I'd put this out as an offer if anyone is interested. My aunt and uncle own a beach house in Port St. Joe that they rent out. It's about 4 hours away from here depending on the route. There's tons of room in the beach house (4 bedrooms), so I was thinking if anyone wanted to do a weekend trip out there to hang out on the beach and chill around a bonfire, that could be kind of cool. Bonfires are legal on the beaches over there. But that could be a nice getaway and perhaps there exists a somewhat interesting route to take to get there, lol.

Let me know what you guys think. Just throwing some ideas out there!

I'd be down for more events and for sure cruises, despite the Jacksonville area being boring as hell lol.

Those sound like fun! I would love to do a ferry trip up to Amelia/Fernandina for lunch, and back.

For the types of meets you suggest, I have definitely seen them work well, but there is always one driving force that made the best groups stand out - a leader! Someone to stoke the fire and keep eyes out for events of all types... Someone to make decisions and plans for the meet ups. Someone with a lot of time to commit to the group to keep it running smoothly.

E.g. http://www.theeuroalliance.com Is a really solid group that has consistent good turnout at meet ups and car shows. Has enthusiastic leadership and always welcoming to new members.

Well maybe my enthusiasm is just because I am on vacation from work until May 26th... but I think it would be good to play a part in a strong car club in the Jax area! I can make comedically bad HTML websites if we want one, and I would be glad to host one if someone wants to teach me more HTML or collaborate. I'd like to meet up with the group soon but I'm tied up for next 3 weekends with fam in town.

As a bit of a car nut, ideas like TwoOfSwords's and the other meets/GTGs are music to my ears. I've been in car clubs when I lived in Tampa and Orlando, but never in my hometown of Jax. Now that I'm living back in town I miss it! To me it looks like we already have a good community, but I want to help make it better too!

Ed doesn't know the history of this community like some of the older members. There is some catching up needed. Next week when we meetup for coffee let's discuss some ideas and I'll provide some history to put things into perspective.
Also I'd like to remind all of you folks It doesnt have to be just one person to create a meet or event. Anyone of you can do it. If you have an idea and want to promote it please do. I organized many events but the turnouts kept getting smaller and smaller. And the last organized drive we did a few months ago someone spun and wrecked. Since then I'm a little turned off of organized drives.
