Yes, it is no longer mandatory, I was saying that a year or two ago it was mandatory.

What is the rule on helmets? SA or M is ok as long as it is SNELL approved?
I've seen a few pictures of s2ks with no roll bars so I had figured they relaxed their rules a bit.

I'd be up for making the trip up there for a cheap track day.

Yesterday's particular event was hosted by the Subaru crowed, but other car owners was allowed to join the fun. Being that the cost was only $50 the result of over a hundred cars showed up for this event. That being said, the rules was not enforced as strictly as they should. They were allowing open face helmet, no roll bars or hardtop to come out and participate. I had a blast and everyone was having fun

On regular open track days that the Firm host once a month, the cost is $250 for the whole day event. Great and fun way to go out and test your cars limit safely. And with the price way more than 50 bucks there are only half as many people if not less that comes out for this event. Which is awesome! You might say its very expensive, but having less people means more track time and less wait. I much prefer this over the hosted events.

For S2000 owners. You will need a hard top or a roll bar, not both. A close face helmet (SA 2005 or newer)

I think the rule from before was that you had to have the OEM metal hard top OR a roll bar, no aftermarket tops?

Id have been out there multiple times if that wasnt the case, its only 30-45 mins from me.

Early this month when I went out there for the first time for the open track day. I called a couple of days before the event to make sure I was able to participate. I spoke to Kim, I think she might be the owner or someone important and told her I was interested and wanted to know if my car was eligible. She asked me what kind of car I drive, I told her an S2000 then she asked if I had a hard top, I said yes. That was it, she said good to go. I payed via my credit card while I had her on the phone, and that was that.

That Saturday morning, I drove there saw Kim at the front gate, told her who I was. She check her list, good to go, then park my car. Took all floor mat off, set up shop unloaded my chair, ice chest and got my car inspected. The guy who inspected the car didn't ask whither or not my hard top was OEM or aftermarket, all he saw was that I had a hardtop. He took a couple of minutes with the inspection and checked to see if I had the right helmet with the SA 2005 or newer sticker on it, and made sure all was good with the car and he was done.

After everyone was inspected, a quick 10 to 15 minute drivers meeting was held and where he assigned the two groups of drivers. One race car, slicks and very fast car and the other, normal street cars with summer tires and that's all.

Great times
