Still no word on my helmet. I got free overnight shipping though whenever it finally sends out. Is it possible to just bring the paperwork with me and pay there? I am still not 100% sure as I've been sick lately so don't want to mail just yet.

You are fine till you get near cords. They usually put a good amount of rubber on r comps for a reason. The tread depth on these don't mean anything as they would with street tires.

Can helmets be rented? If so, how much does it cost?

Can one just go to watch? Any cost associated with that?

They usually have helmets they lend out. No cost to watch or borrow helmet.
