New to the forum
Hello everyone I'm a new S2000 owner. I just bought a 2004 siverstone with red and black int all stock and I have a question to my forum friends about service. Should I use the Honda dealer for maintence service or is there a local garage that specializes in S2000 work. I live on Heckscher Dr near the ferry if that makes any diference. Thanks in advance for your replies.
I think most of us here do our own work and maintenance vs taking it to a shop/dealer, and most are willing to help out the inexperienced. S2000's are fairly easy to work on (imo), and theres nothing better than knowing your car inside and out
Congrats on your purchase. I'm sure you'll love the car. You should consider coming to the meet on Friday. There should be enough people there to answer any question you could have about the car.
Welcome to the site and congrats on the new S. Like stated above, most of us work on our own cars. I do believe we've had install days where we help each other out. Maybe we'll have another soon.

welcome!
If you do go to a dealership i'll tell you i've never had a good experience with Honda of the Avenues, at least since their s2000 guys left, and they left a long time ago. i'll never go back there.
I've taken my car to Pulido's many times because i can get lazy and dont feel like messing with the car myself. it is near my work in riverside and they'll give you a ride there or to downtown if you drop it off before work.
I've also taken my car to Stage 6 a few times though it has been a while. their guy could probably work on the car with his eyes closed but again, i havent been there in a while so i'm not sure what they're up to lately.
Honda on Atlantic, sort of near carmax hasn't done any work on my car but the parts guy does give me parts at the same price as Majestic Honda. (majestic is a CA dealership whose online prices i believe are generally accepted as the lowest available). i just print out the order form and bring it in to the guy and say "i can get this shipped to my door for $xxx, can you match it?" and he always has. if you end up doing the work yourself but want oem parts cheap this is a good place.
again, welcome! and beware of trailing throttle oversteer in your new car!

Welcome to our community and congrats!!!
If its just basic maintenance, Like posted above I'd definitely look into doing it yourself. It will save you lots of money and headaches. Everyone here would have no problem assisting you in any way possible. (But we will make you get your hands dirty too
lol. Some of us are highly experienced with our cars and know the S2000 inside and out.
If you have any questions or problems just post it up and we can help. We are all good friends here.
Hope you can come out to the meet Friday!
Derek.

Lots of friendly and knowledgeable people here in JAX. It's a great community here, always willing to help, I hope you can make it out to the Brewer's meet on Friday so we can all get to meet you!
Also, I'm super jealous of your interior

Welcome to the site, and congrats as well. I'd say perform the work yourself. Ask alot of questions. Its not hard to do the maint. work on them. if i can, ill be out friday to the meet.
Congrats on the new ride! As many have said, we do a lot of our own maintenance work. I know I wouldn't trust anyone doing even as little as loosening and retightening the oil pan bolt on my car in Jacksonville. All it took was one time for a "mechanic" to strip a family vehicle oil pan threads which forces me to do all my own work.
I'm going to be replacing the clutch and flywheel soon and I'd prefer to do it myself, but I do not want to tackle that job on jackstands. I'll be forced to let someone get their dirty hands on my baby.
I honestly don't know where I'd go in Jacksonville for this type of service, a ride down in the Orlando area may be necessary (I've heard some pretty good things about one particular garage with s2k knowledge).
The Jacksonville group is very welcoming so feel free to come to a meet.
