You'll be fine. Especially as a novice. I've driven Daytona 4/5 times now. The banking doesn't need sticky tires. The G forces sucks you right into the track. you don't even turn the wheel on the banking. its just one really long straight basically.

Default Daytona in December

Thank you for the input all. I am on street tires with a 2004 s2000. Sounds like it should work out.

Looking forward to a day trip to Daytona. Wife put the kibosh on Sebring with Chinn in November, she is doing the Disney half-marathon.
I'll be home with the kids.

For any of the other dads out there, Hooked On Driving has an event on Monday June 19th at Roebling (day after Father's day). Good excuse to take the day off of work.

I know the track isnt the best but this seems like a decent deal if you want alot of track time.

The Summer Driving Club (SDC) at The FIRM is a unique membership for die hard track enthusiasts and road course beginners looking to improve their skills alike.

An SDC membership lets you attend any or all of the summer open track days at The FIRM for a vastly reduced rate. You will have access to our challenging 1.6 mile road course for a seat time cost lower than anywhere else. The SDC lasts for 3 months; June, July, and August. See below for Summer Driving Club available dates.

Membership dues include a one time fee of $300 for the 3 month period and then an additional $75 fee for each Open Track Day registration. (IE: if you attended 6 track days you would pay $300 for your membership dues plus $450 for the attended track days.) That's more than 60% off!

Membership purchase available for a limited time only. Last day to purchase a membership is May 31st! Open Track Day registration fees ($75) are due the Friday before the desired event(s) through MotorsportReg.com. Once purchased you will receive an email with additional registration information.

This offer can not be combined with any other offers or coupons. Non-transferable. Non-refundable. Rain or shine. Offer available on days listed below only.

Summer Open Track Day Dates:

June 17th
June 25th
July 15th
July 29th
August 6th
August 26th

Thanks for posting this, so if you do all six days it comes out to about 125 per track day. Regular price is about 200?

Default The FIRM on Sunday

Mother in law is in town for the weekend. So, I am heading to the FIRM Sunday morning for a track day.
I just switched my pads to Carbotech XP10 and XP8, we'll see how it goes.
Looks like I am the only s2000 registered so far...

No discount. I did three sessions and bailed out at noon because of the heat. I am now a fan of Carbotech pads. I ran xp10 on the front and xp8 on the back. A really big improvement over stock and not too loud around town
