Default AEM 1052 EMS

I may be getting a 1052 unit this week but I have a few questions.

1) It's tuned for an ap1, can I use the same map on my ap2 to atleast get me home (100 miles away)?
2) the seller doesn't know how to upload a basemap, neither do I...how do I? lol.
3) are there any things to be aware of with the 1052?

thanks in advanced.

The AP1 map may work, but it will likely cause problems.

When I used an AP2 map on my AP2, it ran too lean and pinged. I needed to add 10% more fuel and reduce timing by 1-2 degrees. Fix these two things, and it should be a lot closer to what you need.

To upload a basemap, connect to the EMS within the AEM Pro software, open your desired file, and click send new calibration. That will replace the map in the EMS with a map of your choosing.

If you just want to download or modify the one that's already in the EMS, all you have to do is connect to it with a serial cable. Once the map has copied to your computer, save it.

listen to tim, he helped me get started on my tune. rather then use the tune that the ecu has in it from the buyer, just load the default tune that aem gives you for an S2k. its meant for an ap1, but do what tim says, add fuel, and retard timing, and you can drive on it.

if your going to just pick it up, why not have it installed by someone that can tune it for you too? just pick it up and bring it home. if neither of you know how to use it, kinda dumb to mess installing it and making sure its setup enough to drive home. not to mention you will have to set/sync timing before you start it in your car.

I wouldn't use a tune for another car for 100miles unless I knew it were a very conservative tune. Don't risk your car.
