Just reading on ASM's blog that they have a new version of the S-special 70 single. Tommy or Aaron, do you guys have anymore info on this? Guess they did some changes with the muffler packing along with some other stuff.

yea, I read that article earlier as well looks like instead of utilizing steel wool as sound deadening, they just made the piping in certain section a few mm smaller to comply with sound regulations, but allow for a higher pitched exhaust note.

Just to be clear, they didn't make any changes to the diameter or the overall layout and design of the exhaust. There's nothing new about the S-Special 70, it's pretty much the same as it has been for a while now. The only recent change has been a slight redesign in the construction of the internal baffling of the front resonator. ASM stopped producing S-Special exhausts this past year so they could long term test the revisions on a few test cars. They were simply highlighting the changes to the S-Special exhaust throughout the years. Nearly all aftermarket exhausts use steel or fiberglass wool as sound deadening material in their mufflers/resonators and like other exhausts, the S-Special gets louder over time as the material is burned off. This is why they come with silencers in Japan, to use during inspection. (Silencers aren't included with US models because it's already the quietest exhaust available for the S2000 in the states). Completely new S-Specials will be available again by special order but it is coming with a slightly higher price starting mid-January. We are still working with ASM to bring re-newed S-Special 70mm exhausts in the coming months. They will be constructed using used traded-in S-Special exhausts re-newed with new mufflers, tips, resonators, and updated to current construction specs. So essential, only the thing reused are the 2 main pipes. This will significantly reduce the cost of the exhaust so they can be more affordable.

The I.S. Design Siren Circuit exhaust doesn't use any sound deadening material or perforated cores to muffle the sound. It is a completely straight through exhaust with no mufflers. It utilized 5 individually hand welded chambers that are each precisely tuned to reduce volume at given rpm ranges. It will sound just as quiet as day 1 after 100,000 miles of use. So essentially it's the most free flowing and purest sounding exhaust available for the S2000 but it's incredibly complicated to produce which is reflected in the price. This is the exhaust they are referring to which has a higher pitched "siren" sound.

probably so, lol. I actually decided to throw the OEM Catalytic Converter back on the car so it is going in for a retune on Monday. I'll be sure to post up some vids of the dyno session.
