Default F20C or F22C1

Which engine responds better to mods? The AP1 platform or AP2? Im lookin to purchase an S2k and im currently in research phase before I invest my money. Don't know to much about these cars, so im trying to learn. I am used to high reving cars. Im selling my 2000 celica GT-S 6 speed, shift point is 8,250RPMS. Thanks, and help a future s2k owner out!

ap2 starts with more power and makes more power with mods. you can even use a ap1 ecu and rev to 9k if you like.

the more displacment, the better they respond to mods...typically...but its because of percentages, not a direct function of the displacment.

and to my knowledge, running the AP1 ECU on an AP2 will allow for the 9000rpm, but the cams are not going to make more power up there...need the AP1 cams to realy make a difference...

not really the ap1 cams stops making power at about 8300.dont think its been done yet but i think cam gears would fix the problem of the power fallin off before redline

2004 Honda S2000 5.8 14.2 (MT Mar '04)

hey master s2k, i hope you buy and s2 and love it.... as far as what engine. try and think of how much power you want to make and how much money you really want to spend achieveing it and talk to who would possibly help build you car if not you. theres alot of ways to waste money on the s2000 to make small numbers when the same money can be applied to other solutions.

if you have an idea as to what you want to do with the car, specify the type of build your looking for and you can compare and contrast the build of the different engines through many threads. i duno if i was much help, but good luck

thats all driver. the changes throughout the ap1 years, aside from some suspension changes, were mainly cosmetic, definitely nothing to account for 7/10ths of a second in the 1/4

I had the same problem and went with the AP1 . IT boils down to which one
you like more in terms of looks and engines. Mods are minimal with both unless you go FI. The newer had more low end which is desirable, however won't hold a gear as long and doesn't have the same F1 sound at 9k rpm. The best advice I was given is to test drive both back to back.

AS for the roadtests , the drivers is everything. Some of them blow the clutch while testing the car.

I was told many times it's not a good idea to try and run the Ap2 an 9k. I was thinking that myself at one point.

go drive both. my opinion is ap1, 9k FTW! to me the ap1s are the s2000 in its rawest form, before they made it easier for the everyday driver.

I drive my friends ap2 and it may be just me but the ap2 seems easier to drive (more trq and different gearing maybe) but the ap1 is more exciting car to drive.

thats just my opinion tho. Good luck my friend
