First mods?
Hey just got my s2k a few days ago and wanted to give it a little extra boost in power while still keeping it N/A and a daily driver. ive read about a tb and ecu chip puts it up 20 hp is that true, also tuning it so vtec hits a 4500rpm instead of 6000, should help. Does anyone have any suggestion for tb or tunes to boost it up about 20 hp??
I want to stay away from a cai and exhaust, mainly for hydroseizing since its a daily driver and i live in chicago and exhaust for loudness, emissions, and the fact of spending at least a grand just to drop the weight about 30 pounds and add about 10 horses isnt worth it to me.
EDIT
Sorry i put this in the wrong forum can a mod move to correct location?

Can't "chip" our cars. Only '06+ can get an ecu re-flash. A well tuned VAFC or e-manage can get you 8-12hp top end and 10-20hp mid-range depending on VTEC engagement point. This is a good first mod and also helps with fuel milage. Remember...a VAFC is only as good as it's tuner...find a well recommended tuner in your area.
just purchased? then...
oil change
trans fluid change
diff fluid change
check the brake pads/rotors for wear
check the tires for life
new spark plugs
krankvents
k&n drop in
testpipe
valve adjustment
all of this wont get you 20hp (unless your valves are WAY off) but it should give you some peace in mind.

sounds like you got your s2000 confused with a civic. nothing is cheap and easy, you should plan out your modifications and build a vehicle balanced to your desires.
changing your exhaust does not affect your emissions at all, you'll not see any differences unless you switch out your cat. your options if you want to stay compliant would be a high flow cat.
dropping weight is one of the best ways to improve your accelaration and handling, if you can free up a couple hp while at it then even better. so i think you should take a closer look at exhaust modifications as well as an exhaust manifold.
