Default help im new!

ok, im fairly new to tuning etc. heck, i dont even have my s2k yet, (i gotta sell my current car first), id just like to know ur opinions on what the s2k is lacking in and what works the best with s2ks, etc. im not looking at spending a whole lot of money, im good on the sound system end, the guy im buying it from put a $3k sound system in it.

im just wanting to get some opinions from some veterans

depends what you want.. I understand your on a budget. So whats more important too you. Looks or Performance? Cause lets face it.. Good quality parts for the s2000 arent cheap. Especially ones that are JDM.

thats the main thing im debating about, do u think a cf hood would add some noticeable speed, cause that could knock out both with one thing

on the looks side i was thinking about either a cf hood or a spoiler, r there any good ones of either that you would recommend

on the performance side i was thinking about an exhaust system, particularly the apexi gt spec, is this a good option, or what would u recommend on the performance side, im looking at under $1k right now, im still in high school

It was my understanding (I could be wrong and someone will surely correct me if I am), that the OEM aluminum hood is actually lighter than most of the carbon fiber hoods available for the S2000.

First off...no a CF hood wont add any noticeable speed. A CF hood can make your car look more agressive though. I wouldnt put a spoiler on just yet. Once your car has a reasonable amount of performance mods that would require a spoiler of some sort. Then I'd get one. As far as an Exhaust. There are plenty of lower end exhaust's you can get for under $1000. Such as HKS, Apexi, or Tanabe. I'd say if you wanna get a good exhaust for under $1000. For me personally. Nothing is better sounding than the Spoon N1 Exhaust system. It should be under your $1000 budget. As far as a good quality CF hood for under $1000. There is really no such thing. You'd have to go with a replica hood. But the quality on them vary....even in the same brand. I wouldnt get a no-name brand hood though. Probably either VIS, or Seibon. But its will depend on your luck on how good of a hood you get.

And yes your correct. the Aluminum hood is lighter than the majority of hood's available for the S2000. Only reason too replace it is really looks, or for ventilation of the engine bay. There are hoods lighter than the Aluminum though. For example, I have the Dry Carbon C-west Hood. That weighs half the weight of the Aluminum hood.

You can try www.opakracing.com or www.aj-racing.com

I give the thumbs up to AJ-Racing! If you gotta spend the money, get a nice exhaust. You might be able to get some good used ones for $1000. It will make your car sound cool.

$1000 will get you looks or noise. I don't think you can buy a noticable increase in performance for $1000. S2000 = stupid expensive parts. JDM S2000 = uber stupid expensive parts.

This thing came so well built from the factory that $1000 isn't going to do much in terms of performance.

Can't $1000 get you a few driving lessons? That would definately make you faster, and your friend will think you're cool for going to racing school. hehe. So you add performance and look cool.

Honestly I would worry about getting the car first and then learning how to drive a RWD car. Very different than the FWD most kids are used to. A lot less forgiving. Anyway you can always do audio which is great. You can start there...
Good luck.
