Default J's ECU on an AP2

alright lookin for some advice. I have an AP2 with a AEM v2, and a T1R Power 70 exhaust. Was Thinkin of adding the J's Headers Next year. Wuz Thinkin of puttin the J's ECU with this setup. What Do you guys think? I know a guy thats selling his ECU for 900 Canadian(Used). Do U Guys think it can make a noticable power gain. How much power at the Wheels would I expect with this Setup...

Thanks In advance Guys

Don't bother with the J's ecu, for the same price you could get a vafcII and be able to tune it more. Or even some of the newer offerings which include spark and ignition timing. greddy eManage I think is around the same price.

you'll be stuck with the setup that is on the j's ecu, you'll see gains but nothing like you would if you would have an ecu tuned to optimal settings which would be different for every vehicle. i'd use the money to invest into something else.

With the J's ECU they have hundreds of different maps, so you can simply tell them what mods you have on your car, and they will program the correct map into the ECU.

That is if you buy a new ECU though, I don't know if you would be able to send the used one back and have J's re-flash it or something.... Basically, unless the guy you're buying it from has the exact same mods as you, and had the ECU calibrated for those exact mods, you will not get the best tune for your vehicle with the J's ECU, unless J's is willing to reflash it for you.

I would agree that it would probably be much easier to get a good tune for your car with a Greddy E-Mangage Ultimate than with the J's ECU -- and I would advise against going with a V-AFC for tuning, esp if you have a 70mm exhaust, AEM V2, and potentially a J's Header (since all of those mods will lean out your A/F ratio already, and the only way to make power with a V-AFC is to lean out your A/F ratio) -- I would go E-Manage Ultimate, but if you could get J's to reflash your ECU and if they have maps to run on 93 or 91 octane (whichever you have), it might not be a bad choice, just more of a hassle for same results. Also I just remembered, I am not sure if the J's ECU still uses the knock sensor, a lot of aftermarket ECUs do not, so you could be in dangerous territory with that ECU if that's the case.
