Default J's Header and Duel 60RS on my AP2

Hey guys, first I want to say hey, I'm new to the s2k community and very happy to be here. I've been driving a honda since I could drive and feel that I've reached some sort of pinnacle by finally obtaining this car. Coming from 2 accords, an 00' Si and a 01' prelude, the S2k is actually what I wanted all of the other cars to be, so let the next adventure begin!

Well I'll get right to it. As with all experiments you want to have a constant from which to judge your progress... I visited Church Automotive to get my baseline dyno a couple of weeks ago and it is as follows.

2004 S2000 21000 miles
Dynopack (power at the Hubs) subtract Appox. 12 for whp

I was very happy to say the least, I knew that AP1's make usually right at about 200whp and I was told that the AP2 consistently dynos 20whp higher than the AP1. So we are about right with these numbers..... Man... I can't help to think if this motor could rev another 1000 rpm... it might make 240 or 245!!

Now for the Hardware.

There are lots of opinions about headers, exhausts and whatnot, but not as many facts as I would have like to have seen. The majority seems to feel that J's stuff is very nice and I agree. Also, Bulletproof had both a header and the Duel RS instock when I was looking and it just seemed to fall into place Here are some pics..

Another deciding factor was weight reduction. Being a full titanium setup, it had a lot to offer. Here are the numbers and pics.

Stock Exhaust 50 lbs
Stock Header 20 lbs

Js Exhaust 14 lbs
Js Header 10 lbs

STock System 70 lbs
Js System 24 lbs

SAVED 46 lbs!!!

HEADER

EXHAUST

This is Part I of II I guess, I'm planning on getting a dyno again very soon to see what the gains are, maybe next weekend. I'm hoping for about 10whp? Too optimistic? Time will tell I guess, in the future I plan on maybe a snorkel and a special filter setup in the stock airbox... I also have custom ported stock intake manifold on the way. The exhaust is my only mod at this point as well.

I'll update with the new dyno and installed pics when I get them!

Very nice man. Cool set up. We need rear pictures of the car with the exhaust on. Are you running a test pipe?

Yeah... I was up pretty late finishing everything so i didn't get a chance to snap pics, and its been raining a good bit here in LA so I'm waiting for a good wash/photoshoot day...

No I'm running the stock cat for now, I was thinking of getting a randomTech cat... but its like 3 bills and to be honest... I don't want it any louder than it is now... has a little drone from 3 to 4 K, but its almost tolerable for me.

The exhaust is beautiful and I applaud your taste. I dont applaud your spelling though. Its DUAL, not duel.

get the J's cat delete to match it all up. the drone will go away, and youll love the power gain. and its less that what you wanna spend to put.. another cat back on. trust me, i have the J's delete, its niiiice. dave

I had some random thought a couple of days ago that deleting the cat would clean up the sound... will it really reduce the drone?

I would think also that overall the exhaust would get a little louder... but more performance sound I'm down for, not drone.
