I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for in the search function...here is my question: How can I tell a J's hood is authentic (old style with single center vent)? What is the carbon fiber weave pattern? Also, how can I tell a BackYard Special wing is authentic? Thanks for your input.

 

for the BYS wing, I think most of the fellas on the board have the replica ones.

 

If you are buying those items from an S2ki board member, click on there name and hit the button that says "find all posts by this board member" check there posts and see if by any chance if they inquired about this part and what source did they get it from. Thats one way you can find out your answer. If they bought it from a friend with a face to face transaction then you may be outa luck unless you know a JDM whore with a good eye.

I had both. The Js Racing Type S cf hood is a 1x1 weave hood. Post a picture with close up shots and I will tell you if its real or not. Regarding the BYS wing, well the real one fits worse than the style one. Thats a big indicator. Meaning the rear one may rub on your paint while the style one will not..

 

1x1. the hood you got is authentic.

 

If the hood is 1x1 and the weave is flawless it will be the original J's hood.
