Default New Clutch needed...

hey guys. i don't actually need a new clutch but i can't stand the stock one. the feedback is ok but it has no weight to it... it feels like i am pushing my foot through water. i want something stiffer... what is a good option?

Any heavy duty pressure plate will give you that stiffer feel. eg. ACT HD PP.

Omni clutch master cylinder will have the same effect (stiffer) and will shorten the distance you need to engage it.

Cheaper and easier to install too

You could go with the HTG package. Includes upgraded pressure plate for more clamping force and stiffer pedal feel, along with stock disk and lightweight flywheel.

if you can afford it you might as well get a really bulletproof full clutch while your at it, like an Exedy Hyper Single or something of that nature, ORC, etc.

and maybe consider a clutch line and different fluid.

why would u get a lightweight flywheel? the car already suffers from lack of torque. wont u just accentuate the problem??

as far as teh clutch being light, isnt that preferable to a heavy clutch, especially when driving in traffic. i know for sure that i prefer driving the s2000 as compared to my brothers mustang cobra

a lighter flywheel results in less drivetrain loss and faster revving.

a stiffer pedal is better for racing, as the pedal has sharper response and more defined engagement point. a softer pedal would be ideal for driving in traffic, but that's not what the S is made for!

I had the same stock clutch/flywheel/pressure plate for 100k miles, and I have to say for a stock clutch assembly it was one of the best I've ever driven but I upgraded to the comptech pressure plate, ACT clutch and flywheel.

I see what blacks2k is saying about the decrease in torque but I really dont think its noticable, and it does certainly engage faster.

I also see s2krazy is saying about the faster revving, but again I think its a very suddle difference at the point where my car is at, not much over stock in terms of hp. It definitely performs better though and is a lot stiffer, and as for traffic, you adjust very quickly.

I like the comptech offerings but I have nothing to compare that to.
