Default New product from J's Racing

Just got word from J's Racing that they've released a new product for the S2000.

Basically it looks to be a belt that eliminates(bypasses) the air conditioning when driving. I guess it does make sense that this should free up some power for those looking to squeeze every last hp out of their motor.

For the hardcore people who want to retain the a/c unit but not have it hooked up I guess this is for you, though having to install and uninstall the belts would seem to be a little labor intensive, at least for me.

A disengaged AC clutch provides very little resistance on the engine to make a difference so I dont see a point of using the belt to bypass the AC compressor. Of course the item is a must if one removes the AC compressor but I bet theres a over the counter belt somewhere out there that will fit but if not, how long will it be till someone knocks that item off?

A belt swap is easy btw. If i recall its only a 14mm + breaker bar to give slack on the belt tensioner. Then its a matter of re routing the belt in the fashion that it was removed.

How much is this belt? $!174 dollars?!
What size is it? Can't you just get a shorter belt from Napa or auto supply store?

Changing the belt is child's play. As mentioned, all you need to do is push down the tensioner pulley with a rachet and reroute the new belt.

EDIT: Found the info from user VAD

The stock serpentine belt is:

The NAPA part number for your belt is 25-060578.
# of Ribs:6
Angle Degree:40 Degrees
Imperial Length:58.378" (1483mm)
Top Width:.807" (20mm)
Costs: $30

Why not just get the Honda "short" belt, they've made one for ages.

The Napa belt is cheaper. Works just fine. Should take about 10mins to change just the belt.

Kinda make you wonder what the markup is from j's and Bulletproof automotive. Lets see, go down to Napa and buy 10 belts at $20. Charge $186. Hmmmmmm.

A belts a belt. There's nothing magic about it, no need to spend $174 on it....
